It’s always a pleasure to watch Art Brut perform. Once described as “Stephen Fry fronting Guns N’ Roses”, the band is touring in support of their latest album ‘Brilliant Tragic!’, which saw them team up with Pixies legend Frank Black on production duties.

There’s a lot to like about the songs, but Argos’ sardonic, heart on sleeve lyrics – relating to schoolboy crushes, summer jobs and forming bands – are a key part of Art Brut’s appeal. We met up for a chat before their gig in Cardiff’s Clwb Ifor Bach…
